The Aarlis, India’s First Vignette Collection Property
Launched by IHG in 2021, the Vignette Collection brings together luxury boutique-style hotels with distinct personalities, affiliated with the group’s network without compromising their individual identities. With The Aarlis, the brand makes its debut in India and more broadly across South West Asia. Developed by the SSIEL group, the property rises with a contemporary silhouette in Panchkula, a town adjacent to Chandigarh, set against a backdrop of hills bordering the Himalayas.

“The opening of The Aarlis Hotel, Panchkula is a significant milestone for the Vignette Collection and for IHG in India,” notes Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG.
145 Guest Rooms with Contemporary, Regionally Inspired Design
The hotel offers 145 rooms and suites combining contemporary luxury with warm touches, featuring automated climate control, touch-activated drapes, and customizable lighting scenes. The décor draws on regional craftsmanship and motifs, capturing the spirit of a place that proudly celebrates its local roots rather than an interchangeable signature look. “The Aarlis was envisioned to capture the spirit of this land,” sums up Neelabh Chugh, General Manager of the property.
Five Culinary Venues, from Sapio to the Sky VI Rooftop
The culinary offerings revolve around five distinct venues. Sapio, the all-day dining restaurant, sits alongside Cabinet V, serving Indian and European cuisine, the Wakerie pastry shop, and the Jigger cocktail bar. The Sky VI rooftop, expected in September 2026, will complete the selection with sweeping views over the city and surrounding hills.

Wellness, Events, and Signature Rituals
For relaxation, the hotel features a spa, beauty salon, fitness center, and swimming pool. The roughly 30,000 sq ft of event space, anchored by the Aura Grand Ballroom, caters to business clients and weddings, a key market in this northern region of India. The Aarlis also cultivates its own traditions: every evening, the Venu-Nada ceremony brings together oil lamps, live flute music, and tabla performances. In addition, the hotel partners with local NGO Chhoti Si Asha to support disadvantaged women.
Our take
By debuting its Vignette Collection in Panchkula rather than Delhi or Mumbai, IHG is betting on India’s rapidly upgrading secondary metropolitan markets, where demand for upscale hospitality is surging. The gamble of The Aarlis, delivering contemporary luxury infused with local culture, aligns with what a new generation of Indian and international travelers is seeking. It remains to be seen whether the still-young collection will successfully establish its distinct edge here. Reservations can be made on the official IHG website.
