Hôtel Palais de la Méditerranée Reborn in Nice Under The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

Standing like a lighthouse along the legendary Promenade des Anglais, the Palais de la Méditerranée opens a new chapter in its nearly century-old story. After a major renovation, the Nice icon reopens its doors and joins The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, the group’s label for hotels with character. A deliberate repositioning, trading the more business-oriented Hyatt Regency banner for a resolutely experiential hospitality rooted in the French Riviera’s art of living.

“Reimagining the Hôtel Palais de la Méditerranée is an extraordinary privilege,” says Julien Renetaud, the hotel’s General Manager, who stresses the building’s deep roots in Nice’s identity and the commitment to honour this heritage while infusing it with bold modernity.

An Art Deco icon on the Promenade des Anglais

The story begins in 1929, led by architects Charles and Marcel Dalmas. Its Art Deco façade, a listed historic monument, bears witness to the golden age of tourism on the French Riviera. Ideally set between the Old Town, the Cours Saleya and Place Masséna, the hotel enjoys a central location and an exceptional view over the Baie des Anges, a true jewel case of the Mediterranean.

From Hyatt Regency to The Unbound Collection

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, brings together independent hotels with strong personalities, rich in history yet resolutely contemporary. The Palais de la Méditerranée becomes one of its most obvious French showcases, from its iconic Art Deco façade to its freshly reimagined interiors with Mediterranean accents. The move under this banner confirms the house’s ambition: to offer a singular experience, far from standardised norms, and an authentic immersion in local culture. 173 rooms and suites designed by Linda Boronkay

Behind the historic façade, the interior design was entrusted to interior architect Linda Boronkay, who converses with the Art Deco heritage while slipping in subtle nods to the Riviera coastline. The 145 rooms and 28 suites, 173 keys facing the sea or the hills, cultivate organic curves, textured materials and pastel tones, for a soft, luminous and deeply Mediterranean atmosphere.

A year-round heated pool, unique in Nice

It is the house’s signature: an indoor-outdoor heated pool overlooking the Baie des Anges, presented as the only outdoor pool heated all year round in Nice. Right next door, the fitness and relaxation centre offers premium equipment, a sauna and a hammam, for a wellness break facing the Grande Bleue.

Gastronomy and cocktails, the Riviera spirit

On the dining side, the hotel cultivates a festive, sunlit spirit, from breakfast to the last drink. The Zouzou Bar embodies this timeless glamour, between signature cocktails, exceptional champagnes and rare spirits, extended by a spectacular terrace open to the sea. An invitation to conviviality, where the table celebrates Niçoise and Mediterranean flavours.
