Hotel with private spa: 10 addresses in France

In brief
  • 🕐 Three ways to have the water to yourself · the suite with private terrace Jacuzzi, the cabin with personal sauna, and the hotel that books out its spa by the hour or two.
  • 💶 What private hire costs when listed · €78 per person for two hours of “Midnight Bath” in Tour-de-Faure, €200 an hour for outside visitors at Maison Souquet, and the hour complimentary for residents in both Paris and Rennes.
  • 🌲 The spa comes to the room · in Esvres-sur-Indre, all elevated lodges feature a terrace Jacuzzi and Spa+ lodges include a private sauna; in Breitenbach, each Fjell hytte has its own sauna, with three offering a Nordic bath.
  • 📅 When to book · private slots go first on Saturday nights and during school holidays; midweek, the Discovery offer at the Touraine lodges starts at €290 a night.

Hotel spas have long been shared spaces, complete with timetables, contested loungers and neighbourly chatter. A segment of French hoteliers has taken the opposite approach, now selling the exact reverse: a pool, sauna or hot bath reserved for one or two people. We have selected ten addresses in France, one per region, where the wellness area is truly private, detailing for each what is genuinely bookable, along with durations and rates where published, recorded on 20 September 2026 on official websites.

📍 Paris 9th💆 Salon d’Eau private for 60 minutes🏷️ Complimentary for residents

Set on Rue de Bruxelles near Montmartre, Maison Souquet occupies a former Belle Époque pleasure house whose unassuming façade gives nothing away. Each room is named after a courtesan and two thousand metres of silk were required to dress these alcoves, featuring a Moorish lounge, carved woodwork and nude paintings. The property belongs to Collection Maisons Particulières, alongside Maison Proust and Maison Athénée.

The Salon d’Eau is tucked away in the basement: a ten-metre pool beneath a cobalt-blue vault constellated with gold-leaf stars, inspired by a room in Munich’s Villa Stuck, complemented by a hammam and a treatment room. Every day, at a time of their choosing, a resident guest receives the key to the space for a full hour. The sixty-minute private hire is complimentary for resident guests and charged at €200 for outside visitors, with 55-minute massages at €220 (rates recorded on 20 September 2026).

📍 Béthune💆 One-hour private spa🏷️ Jacuzzi in room

On Rue Édouard-Herriot, just a stone’s throw from Béthune’s Grand-Place, a fully renovated historic building houses suites and studios designed by architect Katya Lemaitre. The 23 m² deluxe rooms and 25 to 35 m² deluxe suites feature their own in-room Jacuzzi, offering unlimited, untimed access. Rooms open from 1:00 pm via an access code, bypassing reception entirely.

The wellness area operates on the exact opposite model to large spas: it is booked out entirely for two people for an hour. Bathrobes, slippers and towels are provided, while the Japanese infrared sauna gently diffuses warmth over a thirty-minute session, making it more tolerable than a Finnish sauna. Everything is included in the Suite Wellness package, making it one of the most accessible entry points in this selection (rates recorded on 20 September 2026).

Le Saint-Antoine, timetabled pool slots

📍 Rennes💆 9-metre pool on a booked slot🏷️ Maximum eight people

Avenue Janvier, a few minutes’ walk from Rennes station and the EuroRennes district, this Best Western Premier Collection four-star hotel arranges its rooms around a planted patio. This is the easiest address in our selection to reach without a car, which matters for a two-night weekend. Dining is limited to a lounge bar and sharing platters, as the hotel focuses its resources on the wellness floor.

The Aqua Spa brings together a heated 9 by 3.4-metre indoor pool equipped with a counter-current swim turbine, a Jacuzzi, a starry-sky hammam and a herbal tea room, all beneath a large glass roof. Access requires a booked slot and guest numbers are capped at eight people simultaneously, which changes everything on a Saturday night. One hour is complimentary with each stay, the space remains open from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm and treatments use Gemology products.

📍 Breitenbach💆 Private sauna in the hytte🏷️ 14 hyttes designed by Reiulf Ramstad

Perched on a hillside above Breitenbach in the Bas-Rhin region, fourteen timber hyttes designed by Norwegian architect Reiulf Ramstad cling to the contours of the landscape without altering it. The estate applies Danish hygge to the letter: no monumental reception, a vegetable garden supplying the estate’s kitchen, and pathways rather than corridors. Formats range from the 18 m² Eføy to the 38 m² two-level Fjell, sleeping one to four guests.

It is the Fjell hyttes that interest us here. Each one features its own sauna with a window overlooking the valley, and three of them add a private Nordic bath on the terrace. In total, five hyttes on the estate have a Nordic bath. A shared wellness area featuring a sauna, outdoor Nordic bath and relaxation room completes the offering for guests staying in the other cabins. This is the cabin choice of our selection, located forty minutes from Colmar.

📍 Esvres-sur-Indre💆 Private Jacuzzi on every terrace🏷️ Private sauna in Spa+ lodges

Deep in the Duporterie forest, twenty minutes from Tours, these suite-lodges are perched four metres high among the treetops, offering panoramic views from the bed. Each lodge was entrusted to an artist who spent several days living on site before signing their creation, while the Arty+ lodges were entirely redesigned by Aurèle or JonOne. The estate also features a vegetable garden, restaurant, bar and guided forest bathing sessions.

The principle is simple: there is no shared spa, only individual ones. All lodges feature a large terrace with a private Jacuzzi, and Spa+ lodges add a private sauna, ensuring you never cross paths with anyone from arrival to departure. The midweek Discovery offer starts at €290 a night, while the Escapade package, featuring arrival champagne alongside dinner and breakfast delivered to the lodge, is available from €530 (rates recorded on 20 September 2026).

📍 Beaune💆 Private Jacuzzi beneath the vaults🏷️ NUXE Spa upon reservation

Boulevard Maréchal-Foch, a short walk from the Hospices de Beaune, this Beauvallon group property presents its rooms behind a Burgundian façade alongside a century-old cedar tree. The restaurant, Le Clos du Cèdre, offers gourmet dining amid the vineyards, and the hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring the Côte de Beaune, Pommard and Meursault. This is the urban address in our selection, where everything can be explored on foot.

The NUXE Spa occupies a vaulted stone cellar beneath the hotel: three treatment cabins, a hammam, a herbal tea room and a Jacuzzi. The wellness areas are accessible by reservation only and the Jacuzzi is private, effectively giving you the entire cellar to yourself. The signature treatment draws on 15th-century potions from the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune apothecary, a local curiosity found nowhere else. A fitness area completes the floor.

In Anglet, between Biarritz and the Basque hinterland, Brindos occupies the shores of one of France’s largest private lakes. Ten floating lodges ranging from 30 to 47 m² rest directly on the water, accessible exclusively by electric boats steered by the hotel team at any hour of day or night. The Relais & Châteaux castle remains on the shore, featuring its restaurant and lounges opening onto the lake.

Each lodge opens onto a 25 m² terrace complete with a solarium, while the Lodges with Spa feature a Nordic bath overlooking the water, hidden from the shore. The 49 m² family lodges accommodate four adults across two bedrooms. The castle spa, open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, works with Gemology and offers water yoga, pilates and multi-day retreats. Biarritz airport is just minutes away.

📍 Tour-de-Faure💆 Midnight dip, two hours for €78🏷️ 18-metre lap pool

In Tour-de-Faure, at the foot of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and its cliffside, this Lot Valley property has built its wellness area beneath an open timber-framed roof framing the trees. The spa is reserved for hotel guests aged 16 and over, open from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm.

It is after closing time that the magic happens. During the day, wellness access is charged at €18 per person for two hours or €28 for unlimited access, with the Romantic Room including the Midnight Bath starting at €410.

In Chamonix, this four-star chalet-hotel has placed its spa and fitness area on a single level flooded with daylight. Spa by Cinq Mondes brings together a pool, Jacuzzi, hammam, outdoor sauna, herbal tea room and three treatment cabins including a duo room, open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. In summer, the space extends onto a terrace facing Mont Blanc, arguably the hardest view to rival in the valley.

Access to the aquatic area and fitness room is included in the room rate for residents, with guest numbers capped at twenty people simultaneously. Above all, the hotel privatises the entire wet area including the pool, whirlpool, hammam and sauna during specific time slots upon request in advance. Outside visitors receive complimentary one-hour spa access when booking a treatment.

Our choice

Which to choose based on your stay

  • If you want complete privacy · Loire Valley Lodges, featuring terrace Jacuzzis and private saunas, or the floating lodges at Brindos, reachable only by boat.
  • If you are looking for decor alongside your bath · the cobalt-blue vault and gold-leaf stars at Maison Souquet’s Salon d’Eau, or the stone cellar at Beaune’s NUXE Spa.
  • If you want to swim rather than simply soak · the 18-metre pool at Le Saint-Cirq in the Lot Valley or the 13-metre Infinity pool at Five Seas, heated to 28 °C year-round.
  • If budget is a priority · Les Béthunoises with its hour of private spa included in the Suite Wellness package, or the complimentary hour per stay at Le Saint-Antoine in Rennes.

Suite, cabin or slot: how to choose

The three formats cater to different preferences. The suite with a private Jacuzzi offers untimed leisure, the cabin with a sauna adds the outdoors, and the private slot provides a true hotel spa experience for an hour or two at the price of a treatment. Your first step should be to call the property: private hire is almost always confirmed by telephone and rarely bookable online. To compare by region, our local guides detail the same criteria: the Var, Alsace, Normandie and Lake Annecy each cover around ten addresses, while our Auvergne selection opens with a private spa.

Practical information
  • 📍 Location · ten regions, from Paris to Cannes, Béthune to Anglet, and Rennes to Breitenbach, with a single address per region
  • 🚄 Access · Paris, Rennes, Beaune and Cannes are reachable by train and walkable; Breitenbach, Esvres-sur-Indre, Tour-de-Faure and Anglet require a car; Chamonix is an hour from Geneva
  • 📅 Best time to visit · autumn and winter, when hot baths come into their own and slots open up; book your private hire at the same time as your room
  • 💶 Indicative budget · €18 for two hours in the wellness area and €78 per person for the Midnight Bath in Tour-de-Faure, €200 an hour for Salon d’Eau for outside visitors in Paris, from €290 a night for an elevated Touraine lodge and €410 a night for a Romantic room in the Lot (rates recorded on 20 September 2026 on official websites)
