2,000 m² of bargains under the festival marquee

The sale takes place at the Festival-Zelt Gstaad, the festival marquee set up on Sportzentrumstrasse, across more than 2,000 m². It runs from Saturday 10 to Wednesday 14 October, 9am to 5pm, with a break on Sunday 11: four days in all. Entry is free and everything is sold on the spot.
The sale is being handled on commission by Jürg Hoss Liquidationen, a second-generation family firm based in Zollikon, near Zurich; Jürg Hoss has been in the trade for 50 years. He expects around 1,000 visitors and hopes to clear about 80% of the pieces. At previous sales, some 2,000 people turned up over four days.
A 2005 Steinway and a 2.8-metre bear
Two grand pianos steal the show: a 2005 Steinway & Sons Model B and a 1971 Yamaha C3 Conservatory. The Steinway’s price had not yet been set as of 5 October. Another curiosity is a large decorative bear measuring about 280 cm long, 150 cm high and 100 cm wide.
The list also includes china from the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, two humidors, a fossil stone slab and Persian rugs of up to 540 × 410 cm. A solid walnut Röthlisberger table of about 380 × 120 cm rounds things off: it is the only Swiss maker among the brands mentioned.
Flexform, Baxter and Janus et Cie on the list

From the rooms, the list runs to 87 Flexform Mood chairs in leather, 62 chalet-style armchairs, 55 desks clad in red leather measuring about 150 cm, 107 bedside tables with brass handles, 25 sofas, 15 wingback chairs with ottomans, 15 daybeds and 24 Zonca reading lamps.
For the garden and terraces, there are 120 Quinta armchairs by Janus et Cie in woven teak, 18 half-loungers from the same house, 52 round tables in wood and granite and 14 Bolivar lounge chairs by Baxter, in leather and wood. The lounge and restaurant supply 18 sofas and 20 matching armchairs, 30 Petite Lea poufs by Casamilano, three leather Chesterfields, two Rock side tables in Carrara marble by Ginger & Jagger, 38 brown leather restaurant armchairs and 17 leather office chairs designed by Vincent Van Duysen.
What does a garden chair cost?
The liquidator publishes the list of lots and a photo gallery, but no prices online. Jürg Hoss gave one example: garden chairs that cost around 1,500 francs new are going for about 250 francs. Some pieces have never been used.
Neither Jürg Hoss nor his staff buy any pieces. His personal favourite, he admits, is a round table with a marble top and wooden legs, “perfect in a wine cellar”. The rule remains first come, first served, and the marquee has to be cleared quickly.
A partial refresh, not a major overhaul

The furniture is going following a partial refresh of various areas of the hotel, according to the official sale page: the rooms, the lounge and the restaurant, Jürg Hoss specifies. No exceptional closure has been announced. Some hotels, he says, entrust him with selling their furniture every three to four years.
The Alpina Gstaad lives by the seasons: its summer 2026 season ran from 12 June to 13 September. The hotel reopens on 11 December 2026 for a winter that will last until 7 March 2027.
56 rooms and Switzerland’s first Six Senses Spa
Opened on 1 December 2012, the hotel has 56 rooms and suites, all with a terrace, from the Deluxe Room to the three-bedroom Panorama Residence. It is home to Switzerland’s first Six Senses Spa and three restaurants: Monti, led by chef Martin Göschel, the Japanese Megu and the Swiss Stübli, plus the Alpina Lounge.
In March 2025, Marcel Bach and Jean-Claude Mimran sold it to an American industrial family, long-standing guests, whose name has not been made public. Marcel Bach remains chairman of the board and Nadine Friedli general manager. On 9 October 2026, the official website listed CHF 2,700 per night, breakfast included and excluding taxes, for a 33 m² Deluxe Room Schönried for two adults, on the night of 15 to 16 December 2026.
