In brief
  • According to the La Liste 2026 ranking (world’s 1,000 best hotels), ten establishments are tied for first place with the maximum score of 99.5/100 · including two Parisian palaces.
  • La Réserve Paris retains this position for the second consecutive year: just 40 keys, Avenue Gabriel (8th arrondissement), and the restaurant Le Gabriel, three Michelin stars.
  • Le Meurice (Dorchester Collection) joins the top spot: the institution on Rue de Rivoli, opened in 1835 opposite the Tuileries Garden.
  • Cheval Blanc Paris, the other Parisian representative at the top of the table in 2025, drops to 99/100.

Ten tied for first place: the 2026 verdict from La Liste

La Liste, a French media outlet founded in 2015 by diplomat Philippe Faure and known for its global restaurant ranking, aggregates hundreds of sources · guides, specialist press, verified reviews · via its algorithm to establish its annual ranking of the world’s 1,000 best hotels. The 2026 edition does not name a single number one: ten addresses share the record score of 99.5/100, from St. Moritz to Bangkok, via Positano and Los Cabos.

Two Parisian hotels in this club of ten is a strong signal sent to travellers worldwide: in the eyes of La Liste, the French capital remains the epicentre of global luxury hospitality.

La Réserve: privacy at the peak, for the second year

Opened in 2015 by Michel Reybier in a townhouse on Avenue Gabriel, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées, La Réserve Paris took the opposite approach to large-scale hotels: remaining small to aim for absolute excellence. With only 15 rooms and 25 suites, decorated by Jacques Garcia in the spirit of a 19th-century private residence, the property cultivates the feeling of being welcomed home · only better. Awarded the “Palace” distinction in 2016, it offers direct views of the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais or the Place de la Concorde from certain suites.

Excellence is also on the menu: Le Gabriel, led by chef Jérôme Banctel, holds three Michelin stars, while La Pagode de Cos offers a more relaxed dining experience. In the basement, the Nescens spa · the wellness brand founded by Michel Reybier · features its 16-metre pool lined with red daybeds, one of the most recognisable images of Parisian hospitality.

Le Meurice: the Rue de Rivoli institution joins the club

A complete change of style for the second Parisian on the list. Opened in 1835 opposite the Tuileries Garden, Le Meurice is one of the capital’s oldest palaces · Salvador Dalí made it his Parisian headquarters, staying there for a month every year for three decades. A member of the Dorchester Collection and awarded the “Palace” distinction when the label was created in 2011, the hotel combines 18th-century splendour with resolutely contemporary touches.

Its rise into the 99.5 club rewards a property in motion: the sculptural pastry of Cédric Grolet, whose trompe-l’œil creations have travelled the world, a leading gastronomic offering, and exceptional suites, up to the Belle Étoile and its panoramic terrace overlooking all of Paris.

Our view

What this Parisian double-win ultimately shows is that there are two ways to be at the top. La Réserve embodies confidential luxury · 40 keys, a service of an intensity impossible to replicate on a large scale. Le Meurice, the historic institution that reinvents itself without betraying its 190-year history. Two opposing models, the same recognition in the eyes of La Liste: proof that Paris does not dominate the global hotel industry through one style, but through high standards.
