The Hôtel d’Aubusson has reopened in Saint-Germain-des-Prés with 44 rooms and a redesigned 20 m pool

The Hôtel d’Aubusson, an independent five-star hotel on rue Dauphine, reopened in September 2026 after a year of works, with 44 rooms and suites instead of 50. Interior architect Bruno Borrione has redesigned the entire house, right down to the 400 m² spa and its 20-metre pool, in service since late 2018. On the ground floor, the Café Laurent, where Juliette Gréco made her debut, relaunched its jazz evenings on 30 September.

Closed in autumn 2025, the hotel reopened its doors after the summer, in September 2026. The number of keys has gone from 50 to 44, spread across six categories, from the Superior room to the Executive Suite. The house remains independent and rated five stars. “We wanted to bring the Hôtel d’Aubusson into a new era while preserving what has always given it its character,” explains its general manager, Luc Guillo Lohan.

The main building dates from the 17th century and was originally called the Hôtel de Mouy; the “Grand Hôtel d’Aubusson” appears in official records as early as 1901. Inside are 17th-century beams, Versailles parquet and a stone fireplace, arranged around a planted patio. At 33 rue Dauphine, the address sits in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a few minutes’ walk from the Pont-Neuf. Trained at the École Boulle and formerly with Philippe Starck and Jean-Michel Wilmotte, interior architect Bruno Borrione counts the Royal Monceau and Le Meurice in Paris, and the Faena in Buenos Aires, among his references. He redesigned the rooms, suites, lounges, bar, reception and spa, with bespoke furniture. Sizes range from 18 m² for the Superior room to 65 m² for the largest suites, by way of 25 m² for the Deluxe and 32 m² for the Junior Suite.

The décor plays on walnut, brass and bronze, with stretched fabric, ceramics and mirrors. The bathrooms combine terrazzo, Burgundy stone and eucalyptus wood, and terrazzo also covers the floors on the ground level.

The art collection brings together Serge Poliakoff, Maurice Estève and Bram van Velde, as well as Bertrand Dorny, Emmanuelle Aussedat, Bruno Sogno and Virginie Hucher. Added to these are bronze sculptures by Delphine Brabant, ceramics by Karen Swami, stained glass from the Ateliers Duchemin, and light fittings and mirrors from a Venetian glassworks.

The spa and its pool are not new: they opened in late 2018, and Bruno Borrione redesigned them during the works. Across 400 m², the 20-metre indoor pool, fitted with massage jets, is joined by a sauna, a hammam, a Scandinavian shower, an ice fountain and a gym open 24 hours a day. A single treatment room offers Le Labo for the body and Phytomer for the face. The space is reserved for hotel guests. To swim in the open air, see our ranking of Paris hotels with an outdoor pool.
