Vahine Private Island occupies Motu Tuvahine, set on the reef that fringes Taha’a, Raiatea’s twin island. Bora Bora stands out on the horizon, while Taha’a and Huahine complete the panorama. No road leads there: the hotel can only be reached by boat, in about 35 minutes from Raiatea airport, 16 km away, depending on the weather. Raiatea itself is 220 km from Tahiti Faa’a airport.

Pearl Resorts reopened the island in April 2026

The address is not new: under the name Vahine Island, it has been a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World since 2006. What has changed is its owner. Bought by Pearl Resorts of Tahiti, the hotel closed from 1 February to 31 March 2026 for works, then reopened in April 2026. It became the group’s fifth property, alongside Le Bora Bora, Le Taha’a, Le Tikehau and Le Nuku Hiva. In July 2026, it joined the Serandipians by Traveller Made network, at the same time as Le Bora Bora and Le Tikehau.

The nine units are split into three categories of three. The Beach Bungalows, 50 m² for two, open onto a double kohu-wood deck with direct access to the lagoon. The Beach Suites run to 70 to 75 m² and sleep up to three, two adults and a child aged 10 or over, or a third adult; they have two terraces, one facing the lagoon and one facing the coconut grove, and a hammock. The three Overwater Bungalows, 45 m², have an outdoor shower on the deck and look out to Taha’a and Bora Bora.

It has an infinity pool, a hammam, a sauna, a gym, a media room, a billiard table, a bar and a kitchen where a chef cooks on request. The roof is thatched with pandanus; the decor draws on wood, shells and pearls.
