After New York, Equinox arrives in AMAALA, the wellness destination Red Sea Global is developing on the kingdom’s north-west coast. The architecture is by Foster + Partners, the interiors by Rockwell Group. The resort sits in Marina Village, next to the AMAALA Yacht Club, between the Red Sea and the Hijaz mountains. For John Pagano, group chief executive of Red Sea Global, the opening brings a new dimension to the destination’s wellness offering.

The 128 rooms and suites span six categories, from the Core Room to the two penthouses, many with a private balcony facing the bay or the marina. Everything is geared to overnight recovery: circadian lighting, temperature-regulating bedding, soundproofed walls and spring-free mattresses made from natural materials. The shower has three heads, the toiletries are by Grown Alchemist, and check-in and check-out are available around the clock. Guests must be 18 or over to check in.

The spa is built around the Equinox X Circuit: cryotherapy, infrared saunas, ice baths, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, hydrotherapy and hot-cold contrast therapy. Facials carry the names of Dr Lara Devgan, Young Goose and Dr Jennifer Tsai, and a Quantum Harmonics Wave Bed is dedicated to sleep. Beneath the resort, The Grotto lines up its mineral pools, free for hotel guests, while 704 sq m of training space makes up the largest gym in AMAALA.

Michelin-starred chef Akrame oversees the menus. Soho Souk, open all day, cooks Levantine flavours in a wood-fired oven and on a Josper grill; Sama Ai pairs Japanese precision with Middle Eastern flavours, with a Temaki Bar and a matcha bar. Mint + Co plays the role of café, and EQX Den, hidden in the grotto, serves adaptogen mocktails by candlelight. The restaurants are open to non-residents.

Founded in Riyadh, Formé Wellness teaches Reformer Pilates, Megaformer, yoga and sound healing across three studios: Al Rabi, Al Aqiq and Kingdom Centre. Its Reset Retreat will run from Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 at Equinox Resort AMAALA. Day one brings a beach walk after lunch, followed by a massage or a cryotherapy session; day two, mat Pilates at sunrise, sound healing, the magnesium pool and an evening in the grotto. Day three is given over to Reformer and a sunset Yin Yoga class, before a final dawn yoga session on the Sunday. Formé has not named the instructors.

Reserving a place on the Reset Retreat

The retreat is reserved directly with Formé Wellness, which shares its rates and terms on request. Flights to Al Wajh airport are extra. Outside the retreat, the resort offers its own packages, such as Warm Up: from two nights, with a cryotherapy session and 400 SAR of on-site credit.

Getting there from Red Sea International

Red Sea International Airport is about two hours away; AlUla, Tabuk and Al Wajh are other gateways, with private electric transfers on request. The hotel recommends visiting between October and April. At Triple Bay, it joins Nammos Resort AMAALA, while Six Senses AMAALA and Jayasom AMAALA round out the destination’s wellness offering.
