Notre avis sur le Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, luxe vertical et plage de carte postale

Four Seasons Seychelles: The Vertical Luxury of an Idyllic Beach

The arrival at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, nestled on Mahé’s southwest coast, often follows a long journey, but the promise of an exceptional escape unfolds from the very first moments. After a thirty-minute drive from the airport, the gates of this 70-hectare estate open onto a hushed atmosphere, where discretion reigns supreme. The open-plan reception majestically overlooks the horseshoe-shaped Petite Anse bay, though the darkness still conceals the splendour of the tropical landscape and the ocean’s vastness. A freshly opened coconut, an iconic welcome gesture, accompanies the check-in formalities. The site’s topography, with its pronounced slopes, might disorient some; yet, for others, it proves to be a charming asset. Buggy rides then become enchanting interludes, offering the opportunity for privileged exchanges with the staff while winding through a luxuriant tropical garden. After an intimate dinner served in-room, lulled by the sole murmur of unseen waves and lit by the gentle reflection of the private pool, the anticipation of daybreak becomes exquisite.

A Natural Amphitheatre and Vertiginous Views

Upon waking, drawing back the curtains is a true revelation. From the private terrace of each villa, the gaze plunges over Petite Anse Bay, where immaculate sand blends with pink granite blocks sculpted by time. The luxuriant jungle tumbles down to the sea in verdant waves, punctuated by the 67 exceptional villas clinging to the hillside, linked by a network of winding paths. The resort thus unfolds the full splendour of its verticality, offering changing perspectives at each level. Down below, at beach level, the main lively areas of the resort are articulated: the vast infinity pool, the convivial restaurants, the watersports centre, and the Kids Club, as well as multiple spaces dedicated to relaxation. The higher one ascends towards the estate’s peaks, the more exclusive and silent the atmosphere becomes. The culminating point is reached at the spa, perched atop the hill, from where one of the island’s most magnificent panoramas unfolds. This layered organisation implies an almost constant circulation by buggy, an efficient and responsive service, although the most athletic might venture on foot up the sometimes steep slopes. The Four Seasons Seychelles is thus experienced as a resort to be explored, inviting discovery of its many facets.

Petite Anse Beach, a Haven of Serenity

The beach is, without a doubt, the soul of this exceptional address. Long, wide, and perfectly protected by the bay’s natural curve, it offers calm seas and crystalline waters for much of the year. Its sand, of incomparable fineness and softness, seems to have been sifted by nature itself. Although Seychellois beaches are public, access to Petite Anse is discreet, imparting a sense of total isolation. Sun loungers, thoughtfully concealed amidst luxuriant vegetation and facing the ocean, invite absolute disconnection. The attentive Four Seasons service truly comes into its own here, with cool drinks delicately brought in small coolers, reinforcing the impression of being alone in the world, at the heart of an exuberant and preserved nature.

The Sublime Privacy of Villas with Private Pools

Here, accommodation is exclusively in villas, 67 in total, all independent and harmoniously scattered across the hillside. Each villa comprises a spacious bedroom, a huge bathroom, a generous terrace, and a private infinity pool. The price difference is explained by the breathtaking views, height, and specific orientation of each. Our editorial team had the privilege of staying in an Ocean Hill View Villa, nestled halfway up the slope. Access to the villa is via a discreet path bordered by dense vegetation, first revealing the outdoor space: a vast, tiered wooden terrace, two sun loungers inviting idleness, a shaded lounge area under a gazebo, and an outdoor shower nestled in the greenery, adjacent to the pool. Inside, a large single volume houses the bedroom and living area, creating an ideal setting for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway. The bathroom is a true design feat: chic, featuring a separate dressing area and two spacious wardrobes, it is arranged around a large marble bathtub facing a wide bay window. From there, the bathwater visually extends towards the outdoor pool, then towards the ocean, offering a most striking “wow” effect.

A Culinary Escape Amidst the Flavours of the Indian Ocean

With its four distinct restaurants, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles has been designed to offer a complete culinary immersion, allowing guests to savour every moment without ever feeling the slightest weariness. The offering is vast, perfectly adapted to the resort’s scale and paced according to the time of day. Breakfast at ZEZ, served high up with an unobstructed view of the bay, is a must-try. The open setting, bathed in natural light, sets the tone for a sunny day. The buffet unfolds into two distinct areas: one dedicated to fresh fruits and vegetables, the other offering an exquisite selection of breads, pastries, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, and cold cuts. An à la carte menu complements the offering with eggs and hot dishes. The delicate touches change daily, such as the red berry taco-style pancake offered as the day’s suggestion, and the constant ballet of the staff, attentive yet never intrusive, is particularly appreciated. This morning ritual, lulled by the mischievous birdsong as they try to pilfer crumbs, invites full enjoyment. In the evening, Koi, the resort’s Japanese restaurant, proves to be a most accomplished gastronomic experience. The outdoor atmosphere, more hushed, invites contemplation. The menu, short and precise, highlights creations such as truffle tuna nigiri and beef teriyaki, whose perfect execution tempts one to order them again. During the day, Kannal, ideally located near the pool and beach, offers relaxed cuisine with Italian and Creole influences. The generous plates are perfect after a morning spent in the sun. It is here that the “resort” spirit is most manifest: fluid service, a tranquil pace, and the comforting impression of never being rushed. Finally, for an informal meal with your feet in the sand, the Steak Shack, with its open-air formats · Josper charcoal barbecue, food truck · offers beautiful cuts of meat, prawns, or fresh grilled fish facing the ocean.

Holistic Wellbeing, from Hilltop to Beach

Wellbeing at Four Seasons Seychelles is not confined to its spa; it permeates the entire resort, from the hilltop’s pinnacle to the beach’s soothing shores. The spa itself, deliberately intimate with only five treatment rooms, is a refuge perched at the estate’s summit, offering a particularly striking view at dusk. Guests visit as much for its enchanting setting as for its treatments, even if the absence of large ancillary facilities (sauna, hammam) underscores a philosophy focused on connecting with nature. Signature rituals draw heavily on local riches. The ‘Cocotier de mer’ treatment, a tribute to the iconic Seychellois coco de mer, is a sensory experience combining passion fruit scrub, nourishing wrap, whipped coconut cream massage, and floral bath. However, it is above all the outdoor holistic practices that give wellbeing a unique dimension. Mountain meditation is a remarkable experience: a guided ascent to the hilltop, open to guests in good physical condition, for a meditation session facing the ocean, lulled by the wind and the distant murmur of waves. The sense of isolation is total, and the effort of the climb intensifies the moment. The programme also includes sound healing sessions with crystal bowls, sunrise meditations inspired by the Anapana tradition, and full moon yoga sessions organised on the spa’s rooftop terrace. In addition to these, there is a very well-equipped fitness centre, walking and jogging trails (from 3 to 6 km) winding through the jungle, hilltop yoga classes, and a comprehensive watersports offering, including surfing for watersports enthusiasts.

Three Experiences for an Exceptional Stay

Choosing Four Seasons Resort Seychelles means indulging in an immersion in singular luxury, underpinned by memorable experiences:

* Visual Grandeur: The resort’s vertical architecture, embracing Mahé’s luxuriant slopes, offers breathtaking panoramas of Petite Anse Bay, from every villa to the spa. * The Privacy of an Idyllic Beach: Petite Anse beach, of unreal beauty, is a haven of peace where Four Seasons service unfolds with utmost discretion. * Wellbeing in Osmosis with Nature: From treatments inspired by local resources to mountain meditations, each experience is designed for a profound connection with the Seychellois environment.

Four Seasons: The Wealth of Choice Between Mahé and Desroches

Upon leaving Four Seasons Resort Seychelles in Mahé, it is difficult not to mention its sister property, inaugurated in 2018 on the private island of Desroches, in the heart of the Outer Islands. Accessible by a panoramic flight of approximately 35 minutes, this second address pushes the promise of isolation even further. Desroches is a 402-hectare coral island, encircled by 14 kilometres of immaculate beaches, where the resort is the sole occupant. While Mahé captivates with its spectacular reliefs, villas suspended in the heart of the jungle, and the energy of a main island, Desroches embodies a more radical vision of island luxury. Everything there is flat, facilitating exploration by bicycle, and each of the 71 villas benefits from direct beach access. Both establishments share a demand for impeccable service and a strong commitment to sustainability, but offer distinct experiences. Mahé for the grandeur of its landscapes and the visual power of Petite Anse; Desroches for the absolute fantasy of a deserted island, total silence, and an even more raw connection to nature. Two complementary interpretations of luxury according to Four Seasons, to be chosen depending on whether one seeks awe or disappearance.
