On the heights of Grimaud, facing the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, a Belle Époque palace has reopened its doors. COMO Le Beauvallon marks the arrival of the Singaporean group COMO Hotels and Resorts on the French Riviera, on a 10-hectare private estate that was once one of the most popular spots on the Riviera. Here’s what you need to know about this new establishment opening on April 24, 2026.
A Belle Époque Palace from 1914 is Reborn
Built in 1914 under the name Golf Hôtel by Swiss architect Julien Flegenheimer, this palace with a hundred rooms quickly became a fashionable rendezvous on the coast. Winston Churchill, Colette, and F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed there, before the place was requisitioned as a military hospital during the two World Wars. Closed to the public and operated for nearly twenty years as a private events venue, it now returns to its hotel vocation.

COMO Establishes its First Address on the French Riviera
Already present in France with COMO Le Montrachet in Burgundy and COMO Cordeillan-Bages in Médoc, the group founded by Christina Ong is here signing its first establishment on the French Riviera. True to its signature, COMO blends the grandeur of the original palace with a sleek contemporary design, set within grounds adorned with over 300 works of art, including the 2002 Serpentine Gallery pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize winner Toyo Ito.
42 Rooms and Suites Facing the Gulf
The establishment features 42 sea-facing rooms and suites, including the iconic COMO Suite and several suites with private terraces overlooking the gulf. The atmosphere remains that of a high-end charming house rather than a large hotel ship, in line with the group’s intimate approach.

Yannick Alléno at the Helm of the Restaurants
In terms of gastronomy, the palace entrusts its kitchens to Yannick Alléno, the most Michelin-starred chef. The signature restaurant Beauvallon Sur Mer, designed by Dorothée Delaye, sits alongside La Rotonde and its rooftop, the Winter Garden, and a beachfront club.
COMO Shambhala, Pool, and Beach
The wellness aspect is centred around COMO Shambhala, with two treatment rooms, a gym, daily yoga classes, and wellness cuisine. A 25-metre mosaic pool, palm and umbrella pine gardens, and direct beach access complete the experience.

8 Minutes from Saint-Tropez by Boat
From its private pontoon, Le Beauvallon guarantees an 8-minute boat crossing to the port of Saint-Tropez, with moorings for yachts and the possibility of helicopter transfers. A discreet location, away from the hustle and bustle of Saint-Tropez but connected to it in the blink of an eye.
Our View
With Le Beauvallon, COMO achieves a delicate feat: reviving a historic palace without freezing it in time, by infusing it with its sleek vision and wellness focus. The combination of a Belle Époque estate and Yannick Alléno’s cuisine, just minutes from Saint-Tropez, immediately positions the establishment among the most anticipated openings on the Riviera. It remains to be confirmed, season after season, that the experience lives up to the promise of the place.
