In the heart of Budapest, just a few steps from the Danube and Elisabeth Bridge, a Belle Époque monument is brought back to life under the prestigious St. Regis banner. The St. Regis Budapest is the brand’s first five-star hotel in Hungary, housed within the magnificent Klotild Palace, a UNESCO heritage site.

The opening of the St. Regis Budapest marks the entry of Marriott’s luxury hotel brand into Hungary, investing in one of the city’s most emblematic architectural treasures. This revitalisation transforms a historic edifice into a leading hotel destination and redefines the standards of luxury and service in the Hungarian capital.

◆ Heritage

A Belle Époque Icon Reclaims Its Splendour

The Klotild Palace, with its rich history and distinctive Neo-Baroque architecture, embodies the Austro-Hungarian Golden Age. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century for Princess Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, under the vision of architects Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl. This monumental building, a UNESCO heritage site, once symbolised the ceremonial entrance to Pest. Its slender 48-metre tower, visible from the banks of the Danube, is a recognisable signature in Budapest’s urban panorama.

From the moment one crosses the hotel’s threshold, an atmosphere of timeless elegance envelops the visitor. The entrance is dominated by a spectacular monumental staircase, bathed in natural light. Designed as a ‘vertical river’, it is adorned with delicate ceramics, artistic stained glass, and opulent chandeliers evoking crowns. This first impression paves the way for an experience where art, history, and luxury intertwine.

◆ Accommodation

102 Rooms and Suites Inspired by the Hungarian State Opera House

The hotel offers 102 rooms and suites, all designed as sanctuaries of luxury and comfort. The spectacular Klotild Tower Suite stands out with its unique location in the signature 48-metre tower, while the Presidential Suite, spanning 169 sq m, offers breathtaking views of the Danube, the iconic Citadel, and the picturesque Elisabeth Bridge.

The interior design draws its inspiration from the Hungarian State Opera House and local Art Nouveau, incorporating elegant decorative tiles, refined brass, and muted-toned textiles. Each element subtly evokes the richness of Hungarian baths, the changing light of the river, and Budapest’s vibrant artistic history, creating a setting deeply rooted in local identity. True to the brand’s tradition, every guest benefits from the butler service, a timeless signature guaranteeing personalised attention at every moment of their stay.

The Hungarian State Opera House and local Art Nouveau inspire every tile, every fabric, every light fitting · a permanent dialogue between heritage and contemporary refinement.

The St. Regis Bar, designed as an elegant theatrical stage, is the vibrant heart of the hotel’s nightlife. It offers live music evenings and a bespoke cocktail menu, including the renowned Crown Mary, a local interpretation of the legendary Bloody Mary created at The St. Regis New York in 1934.

For lovers of Asian cuisine, the 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant showcases exceptional contemporary Japanese cuisine, offered omakase-style, where the chef invites guests on a personalised culinary journey, with each dish prepared using impeccably fresh ingredients.

The hotel also houses the Klotild Pâtisserie, an enchanting space revisiting classic Hungarian pastries and French viennoiseries, set in the charming décor of a former apothecary. Finally, the Atrium, a central and bright space, is the setting for the brand’s emblematic rituals: the traditional afternoon tea time and the spectacular evening champagne sabrage.
