“As we prepare to become New York’s largest meeting and convention destination, it was essential to elevate every aspect of the Turning Stone experience. The Crescent and Salt reflect our commitment to offering a level of luxury that rivals the finest destinations in the world,” the complex’s management highlights.

Beyond the physical expansion, the project reflects the desire to place Upstate New York on the global map of luxury hospitality and business tourism, drawing on the heritage and economic power of the Oneida Indian Nation.

The Crescent: elegance reinvented

The fourth hotel at Turning Stone Resort Casino, The Crescent features 258 refined rooms, adorned with modern textures, contemporary furniture, and luxury amenities, creating an atmosphere of serenity and comfort. The hotel guarantees direct access to all the complex’s facilities: spas and wellness programmes, restaurants, entertainment, championship golf courses, and Las Vegas-style gaming areas.

Beyond the rooms: exclusive services

The ground floor houses services designed for residents’ daily needs: The Pantry, a grab-and-go café, and Oneida Sky, a boutique featuring artisanal creations, jewellery, and products designed by members of the Oneida Indian Nation, for an authentic cultural immersion. A distinctive asset, an on-site medical centre, Rome Health Convenient Care, provides quality care for both guests and staff.

Salt: a table between land and sea

Perched on the seventh and top floor of The Crescent, the fine-dining restaurant Salt celebrates the best of land and sea and has established itself since its opening as a benchmark in the American Northeast. Developed with Elizabeth Blau, a renowned restaurateur and strategist for the culinary scenes in Las Vegas and around the world, it features two vast terraces with views of the Mohawk Valley and four private dining rooms.

The menu highlights exceptional produce: East Coast oysters selected daily, caviar service, hand-cut steaks, and seafood. Signatures include caviar tacos, tuna tartare cones, and miso-maple black cod, enhanced by the Oneida Indian Nation’s Wáhta maple syrup, or a 40-ounce Prime beef tomahawk.

The Oneida Nation’s legacy at the heart of the project

Turning Stone Enterprises, the parent organisation for the Oneida Indian Nation’s businesses, is the driving force behind this expansion. It is one of the largest employers in Central New York, with over 5,200 employees, highlighting its major economic and social role in the region.

Its portfolio is vast: Turning Stone Resort Casino, YBR Casino & Sports Book, Point Place Casino Hotel, Sylvan Beach establishments, markets and convenience stores, not to mention marinas, a hunting preserve, salmon fishing, and the Wáhta maple farm. In total, five award-winning hotels, nearly 30 restaurants, two spas, five golf courses, and multiple entertainment venues.

Our take

The opening of The Crescent and Salt marks a clear evolution for luxury hospitality in Upstate New York. Beyond the infrastructure, the project illustrates a deliberate upmarket strategy to elevate the region to a premier destination for both leisure and business tourism. The involvement of the Oneida Indian Nation, blending cultural heritage with prestigious partnerships like that of Elizabeth Blau, gives the whole experience an authenticity that goes far beyond simple opulence.
