Atmosphere Kanifushi is once again championing Italian wine. From 12 to 14 November 2026, the Maldivian resort will host the second edition of the Bottega Gala Gold, a three-day celebration of wine-pairing dinners and festivities organised in collaboration with the Venetian house Bottega S.p.A. Beneath the surface of this event lies a quieter battle: the effort by all-inclusive Maldivian resorts to challenge the traditional perceptions of the package holiday.
Three days, three venues, three styles
The event opens with two evenings at JUST VEG, celebrated as the first fully vegetarian restaurant in the Maldives, featuring a specially curated tasting menu paired with a selection of Bottega wines. The format is a seated, technical affair, focused on the art of tasting.
The tone then shifts at PIER SIX, where Asian flavours, freshly prepared dim sum, cocktails, and signature wines set the scene for an afternoon by the water. The series concludes on 14 November at THE SPICE with the Bottega Gala Gold itself: an international buffet, live cooking stations, the house’s wines and cocktails, Italian liqueurs, and a live band.

Two leading professionals dispatched to the island
Bottega is doing far more than simply supplying the bottles. The house is dispatching Dario Camilotto, its export manager, and Elena Schipani, its head sommelier, to guide guests through the pairings and share the story behind each selection. It is this level of detail that elevates a brand partnership above standard resort entertainment.
‘We are delighted to return to Atmosphere Kanifushi for a second year,’ says Sandro Bottega, President of the house. ‘This event is an opportunity to celebrate Italian winemaking expertise in a setting that invites guests to slow down, taste, and savour.’
How the Kanifushi Plan changes the equation
The most compelling aspect of this showcase is not the event itself, but how it is integrated. The experiences are included in the Kanifushi Plan™, the resort’s all-inclusive package. While the dinners and lifestyle events require prior booking due to limited space, the gala evening remains open to all resort guests.
Crucially, Bottega wines and the house’s Prosecco are available year-round under this very same package. In other words, the partnership does not end after three days: it secures a highly recognisable Italian brand within an all-inclusive offering for twelve months.

‘Our guests seek experiences to share and talk about,’ summarises Ram Bhoyroo, General Manager of Atmosphere Kanifushi. Nicolas Laguette, Wine Director at Atmosphere Core, places the operation within a broader framework: the Atmosphere Core Wine Program.
A portfolio of nine resorts in the Maldives
Atmosphere Core operates nine resorts in the Maldives and a heritage hotel in India, spread across four brands: THE OZEN COLLECTION, Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, COLOURS OF OBLU, and ONE Atmosphere. The group is pursuing rapid expansion, with projects announced in around fifteen Indian cities, as well as in Piedmont, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
The resort will follow this in December with its Festive Extravaganza, a programme of seasonal dinners and entertainment for the end-of-year holidays.
The View from La Revue des Hôtels
In the Maldives, all-inclusive packages often suffer from a perception problem: they suggest volume rather than curation, and resorts offering them struggle to justify their rates compared to à la carte properties. Aligning a recognisable wine house with an all-inclusive package is a direct response to this challenge. Guests are no longer drinking an anonymous white wine; they are drinking Bottega, and they know it by name.
The choice of Bottega is also highly strategic. The house is best known for its gold Prosecco bottles, which are highly photogenic and therefore highly shareable. On an island where guest-generated content is the primary driver of brand awareness, this is as much a marketing asset as it is a wine list.
There remains one point that the press release does not address: premiumising an all-inclusive offer only works if the selection remains credible. A single partnership covering the entire year simplifies operations, but mechanically reduces the diversity of the wine list. This is the trade-off, and it is one that would be well worth verifying in person.
Practical Information
Bottega Gala Gold will run from 12 to 14 November 2026 at Atmosphere Kanifushi, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives. Experiences are included in the Kanifushi Plan™ for resort guests. Prior booking is required for dinners and lifestyle events as spaces are limited.
