Hôtel Les Brises, La Rochelle - terrasse face à l’Atlantique

La Rochelle: Les Brises Reimagined as a Lifestyle Boutique Hotel Facing the Ocean

La Rochelle, a jewel on the Atlantic coast, welcomes a thoroughly reimagined address. After six months of renovation, Hotel Les Brises has reopened its doors on the Digue Richelieu path, just minutes from the Old Port and facing the ocean, with an entirely new identity. The former three-star establishment has been transformed into a four-star lifestyle boutique hotel fully embracing the Atlantic light.

This metamorphosis is spearheaded by the Vicartem group and its operating subsidiary Younight Hospitality, alongside the investment company Extendam. Their shared ambition is to place the ocean at the heart of the experience, fostering a spirit of holiday, well-being and a celebration of light. The result is an ode to coastal elegance, both sophisticated and relaxed.

The Rebirth of Les Brises: Discreet Luxury and Maritime Roots

A Coastal Metamorphosis Overlooking the Atlantic

The rehabilitation was not merely a renovation · it was conceived as an identity overhaul. The building retained its original volumes, but the interior spaces were reorganised to maximise ocean views, which are now central to every stay. The establishment’s new signature, “hotel on the ocean”, encapsulates this intention.

The 50 rooms are spread across five levels, ranging from 12 to 34 sqm, accommodating up to four people, ideal for families and friends alike. Some open onto private sea-facing balconies. Furniture, bedding and bathrooms have all been entirely renewed, featuring noble materials and meticulous finishes to deliver discreet luxury.

Architecture and Design: An Ode to Light

The interior design was conceived in-house by the Younight Hospitality teams, under the direction of Céline Meslin. Designers Xavier Bohuon and Marine Fournier developed a contemporary coastal universe inspired by the ocean, without succumbing to clichés: light tones, natural materials and discreet maritime references. The delicate illustrations by Bordeaux graphic designer Alice Bottigliero define the visual identity of the establishment. Common areas prioritise openings to the outside and natural light, bringing the La Rochelle sea right into the heart of the hotel.

Gastronomy, Terrace and Well-being Facing the Sea

Breakfast, open to both guests and external visitors, showcases fresh, local and short-supply chain products. Throughout the day, the bar offers a selection of drinks accompanied by sharing platters, fish rillettes and spreads to be savoured whilst overlooking the water. A centrepiece of the address, a 600 sqm terrace offers exceptional panoramic views of the Île de Ré, Île d’Aix and Île d’Oléron. For well-being, a Lumipod sauna installed on the terrace provides a rare moment of relaxation, with eyes fixed on the Atlantic.

An Address for Both Leisure and Seminars

Beyond leisure stays, Les Brises also caters to business clientele with facilities suited for seminars and private events, including the option to privatise the terrace for receptions in a unique setting. This dual vocation, for leisure and professional use, aligns with the rhythm of a city active all year round. Furthermore, the establishment operates in accordance with Younight Hospitality’s environmental charter and aims for the Green Key label, from waste management to the selection of local suppliers.

La Rochelle, a Maritime Setting for Lifestyle Hospitality

The arrival of Les Brises illustrates the vitality of luxury hospitality in the region, particularly along the Atlantic coast. A historic and port city with a rich heritage, La Rochelle provides an ideal setting for this type of establishment, a stone’s throw from the Old Port and within cycling distance of the Île de Ré. With its ocean views and sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, Les Brises joins the finest addresses on the coast. The hotel is no longer just a place to stay, but a destination in its own right where design, local gastronomy, well-being and environmental commitment harmoniously converge.
