Muscat is the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, a country on the Arabian Peninsula bordering the United Arab Emirates. The hotel rises in LA VIE, a new district of Madinat Al Irfan, 10 minutes from the international airport and from the city’s convention centre, the OCEC. On the horizon stand the Hajar Mountains, the range that runs across the north of the country and on into the Emirates, where we told the story of the Caravan Hatta camp.

SEEN by Olivier is the brand of Portuguese restaurateur Olivier da Costa. The Muscat outpost is the first in the Middle East: set on the roof, it serves contemporary cuisine blending the Mediterranean and Japan. The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday, with the kitchen serving from 5pm to 11.30pm and the bar until 1am; it is closed on Sundays.

The choice of a Portuguese restaurateur makes sense: Tivoli was born in Lisbon in 1933 and now belongs to the Thai group Minor Hotels. The brand, which counts more than 20 hotels from Portugal to Brazil and from China to Italy, opens here its fourth address in the Middle East. In Lisbon, its Tivoli Avenida Liberdade has just unveiled its Signature rooms.

On the roof, a 72-metre infinity pool runs along the façade above the lakes and greens; the hotel describes it as the longest rooftop pool in Muscat. Its bar, the Infinity Pool Bar, is open from 11am to 7pm, and a gym equipped by Technogym completes the picture.

The hotel is also home to Muscat’s first Anantara Spa, the luxury brand from the same Minor Hotels group, which will also arrive in the Emirates in 2030 at the Anantara Siniya Island resort. It has six single treatment rooms, a couples’ room with a private jacuzzi and a traditional hammam ritual, the oriental steam bath. Men and women each have their own area, with hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, cold plunge pool and ice fountain, from 10am to 10pm.

In-room dining runs around the clock.

Tivoli LA VIE Muscat is the first hotel in Oman set on a championship golf course. The LA VIE Country Club’s 18-hole course was designed by architect Paul Thomas and is managed by Troon Golf. It also has the country’s only Toptracer installation, a system that tracks the ball and displays its flight on a screen.

For events, the Juman Ballroom holds up to 520 guests facing the 10th hole, in front of an 18 by 7-metre high-definition screen. Three meeting rooms with natural daylight and an outdoor space beside the 10th hole round out the offer.
