Four Seasons announces a new luxury hotel in Seville for 2028

In brief
Four Seasons will open a 55-room hotel in 2028 on the Plaza Nueva, in the heart of Seville, in the Arenal district.
The project is being led with the Spanish real estate investment company Blasson, with architecture by the Madrid-based firm Lamela and interiors by decorator Belén Domecq.
This new address extends Four Seasons’ presence in Spain, where it is already established in Madrid and Mallorca, with a future resort planned for Marbella.

Global hotel luxury continues to focus on Spain. Four Seasons Seville will open its doors in 2028 on the Plaza Nueva, one of the most iconic squares in the Andalusian capital. The Canadian brand is partnering with the Spanish real estate investment company Blasson to transform a historic building into an intimate, fifty-five-room establishment. This announcement confirms the appetite of major groups for cultural destinations with strong heritage value.

The Plaza Nueva project

The establishment will be located in an iconic building in the Arenal district, on the Plaza Nueva, a stone’s throw from Seville Cathedral, the Archivo de Indias, and the Alcázar, three UNESCO World Heritage sites. The building, dating from the mid-20th century, will be completely renovated before welcoming its first guests in 2028. Across five floors, it will offer fifty-five rooms and suites ranging from 40 to 117 square metres, including a vast presidential suite opening onto the city’s rooftops.

The plans include three dining venues: a ground-floor restaurant with direct access to the square, a rooftop restaurant with a panoramic bar overlooking the Sevillian skyline, and a lounge and reception area on the ground floor designed for both travellers and locals. A spa, a gym, and a rooftop swimming pool, overlooking the city’s historic silhouette, will complete the offering. The architecture is entrusted to the Madrid-based firm Lamela, while the interiors are designed by decorator Belén Domecq, recognised on the AD100 list.

The partnership with Blasson

To realise this expansion, Four Seasons is partnering with Blasson, a Spanish real estate investment company overseeing the building’s transformation. This model, where the hotel operator partners with a local entity that masters the land and heritage, has become a hallmark of Four Seasons’ growth. The group does not own the property; it brings its brand, service standards, and management, while the investor holds the asset. This mechanism allows for faster progress on unique buildings in historic city centres without immobilising significant capital.

“Seville is a city defined by its culture, history, and beauty, and it is a privilege to introduce Four Seasons here,” said Alejandro Reynal, the group’s President and CEO, at the time of the announcement. The statement encapsulates the chosen strategy: a small-capacity establishment, rooted in the urban fabric, emphasising rarity over volume.

Four Seasons consolidates its Spanish presence

Seville is not Four Seasons’ first venture in Spain. The group already operates the Madrid hotel, opened in 2020 within the Centro Canalejas complex, as well as a property in Mallorca. With Seville and the future resort announced for Marbella, the group is establishing a significant network across Spain, from the capital to the Mediterranean coast and the south of Andalusia. Andalusia, long absent from the international high-end map, is now emerging as one of the most sought-after regions for luxury hospitality.

The choice of Seville is no coincidence. The city boasts exceptional architectural heritage, a burgeoning gastronomic scene, and continuously growing high-end tourism. By establishing itself on the Plaza Nueva, at the epicentre of Sevillian life, Four Seasons is targeting an international clientele seeking authenticity and exceptional locations.

What this announcement reveals about the luxury market

Beyond the Seville case, this opening illustrates a fundamental trend in the sector. Major luxury brands now favour small, ultra-localised establishments over vast, standardised resorts. In this logic, fifty-five rooms in a heritage building are more valuable than a complex with several hundred keys. Scarcity becomes the central argument, and the historic centre of a listed city the ideal playground.

Publicité

This selective growth strategy responds to increasingly demanding customer expectations, where experience takes precedence over quantity. For destinations like Seville, the arrival of a brand of Four Seasons’ calibre also acts as a signal: that of a territory now fully established on the global map of prestige travel. It remains to be seen, by 2028, how the operator will concretely translate this promise on the Plaza Nueva.
