Since October 2026, the Dar Al Dall riad, just five residences in the heart of the medina of Marrakech, has offered its guests a 10-metre pool on its roof terrace. Designed with the Marrakech practice Trab Design and lined with zellige, the Moroccan mosaic of hand-cut glazed tiles, the pool crowns a house awarded a MICHELIN Key in 2025, then again in 2026. The MICHELIN Key is the distinction the MICHELIN Guide awards to hotels, much like the stars it gives restaurants.

Ten metres of zellige above the medina

The This Time Tomorrow brand designed the pool with the architecture practice Trab Design, fitting it into the roof’s existing spaces. Its zellige lining looks grey out of the water and bluish through it, in keeping with the clay and terracotta tones of the terrace. Only the length of the pool has been disclosed.
The roof rises over several levels planted with olive trees and bougainvillea, with sheltered corners beneath stretched canvas. The view takes in the rooftops and minarets of the medina and, in the distance, the Atlas Mountains, according to the riad’s official website. Reserved for guests, the pool is open from 10am to 8pm, with drinks served poolside.
Saffron and elderflower: the alcohol-free menu
By the water, the menu lists no alcoholic drinks at all. The Dar Al Dall Sunrise blends orange juice, sparkling water and saffron; the alcohol-free Hugo Spritz pairs elderflower, lemon and mint. Then come a hibiscus and honey lemonade, a ginger lemonade and Moroccan teas, including blends from The Moroccan Botanist. On the neighbouring terrace, a restaurant serves meals in the open air.
Seven years of restoration in Kaat Benahid
Dar Al Dall means “the house of shadows”. This former grand residence stands in Kaat Benahid, one of the oldest quarters of the medina. Its restoration took seven years, until it reopened in 2024, with architecture by Trab Design and interiors entrusted to RecDi8, a Barcelona studio.
Like every riad, a Moroccan house built around an inner courtyard, Dar Al Dall revolves around its patio. It is a charbagh, a traditional garden divided into four parts: here, water, greenery and hand-cut mosaic share it around a fountain. Around it open a lounge with a fireplace, a shared dining room and an alcove lounge called “Alkabouw”. 135 albumen photographic prints, a 19th-century process, dated to around 1880, hang throughout the riad, alongside works by Paul-Jean Revel, François Millon, Paul Shusaku Foujino, Abdelkarim Zenati, Paul Ackerman and the calligrapher Noureddine Daïfallah.
How many residences? Five, from 45 to 65 m²

The riad has only five residences, each for two people. On the ground floor, Mmuddu offers 45 m² and a 15 m² loggia. Upstairs are Iffus (60 m² and a 15 m² loggia), Iming (55 m² and a 25 m² loggia), Iẓẓlmeḍ (65 m²) and Tagut (50 m² and a 3 m² balcony). Iming retains an original hand-painted fresco and a four-poster bed; the bathrooms have tricolour marble floors and silvered tiles.
On 20 October 2026, the official booking engine showed €495 a night for two in Mmuddu, breakfast included, from 10 to 12 November (two-night minimum). Stays are open to guests aged 14 and over, and the whole riad can be booked for exclusive use.
Breakfast included, free dinner from 3 nights
In the shared kitchen, the executive chef serves breakfast, included in the stay, and in the evening prepares Moroccan and Middle Eastern dishes. The pantry stays open day and night, and a four-course dinner is offered from three nights. The riad also has a private hammam and a spa area with a steam bath, where treatments are booked in advance.
A vintage sidecar ride across Marrakech
Before arrival, the “resident curator”, the host in charge of organising the stay, prepares a bespoke programme. Youssef Mouhssan, a Marrakech native with a master’s degree in tourism, spent more than 15 years at the city’s grand hotels, including La Mamounia and the Royal Mansour. Among the off-menu experiences: a tour of Marrakech by vintage sidecar with a driver-guide, a photo walk through the medina with a Leica film camera and a private Arabic calligraphy session with master calligrapher Noureddine Daïfallah.
This Time Tomorrow remains a small brand with two addresses: Dar Al Dall in Marrakech and, in Florence, a baroque residence with eight suites.
