The Six Senses Milan hotel pushes its opening back to 2027: 69 keys by Tara Bernerd in the heart of Brera

First announced for 2025, then for late 2026, the Six Senses Milan hotel will finally open in 2027, at 19 Via Brera. The brand’s official page now reads “Six Senses Milan (2027)”, with no precise date and no online booking. The project itself is well known: 69 keys designed by Tara Bernerd & Partners, a short walk from the Pinacoteca di Brera.

In October 2024, Six Senses signed two management agreements in Lombardy, one for Milan and the other for Lake Como, and announced the Milan opening for 2025. A year later, in September 2025, the IHG brand detailed the project and set its sights on late 2026. The official listing now says 2027, with no day or month.

No bookings can be made yet: the website simply points to an enquiry address, reservations-milan@sixsenses.com. The same page still shows the old figure of 68 rooms including 15 suites, dating from 2024, whereas the current project counts 69 keys.

Gruppo Statuto, already an owner in London

The owner is Gruppo Statuto, Giuseppe Statuto’s group, which already owns the Six Senses properties in Rome and Ibiza, as well as Six Senses London, awarded a Michelin Key six months after opening. In Milan, as on Lake Como, it is entrusting two historic buildings to the brand. “Italy moves people like nowhere else,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, when the Milan project was announced.

The interior architecture has been entrusted to London studio Tara Bernerd & Partners, which describes the place as “an urban villa-home, built with a tailor’s care”. The materials announced are arabescato marble, patinated brass and hand-blown smoked glass, beneath textured ceilings and edged with mosaic borders. Every image published so far is a rendering: the hotel is not yet finished.

69 keys, with 16 suites and three private pools

The hotel will have 53 rooms and 16 suites, making 69 keys. Two suites will have a private plunge pool; a third will open onto a large terrace with a 12.5 m private pool, also designed to host private events.

The Six Senses Spa will bring together a 15 m indoor pool, two saunas, a hammam and a cold plunge pool. On the roof, a sky pool will be lined by a panoramic bar. Add the grand suite’s 12.5 m pool and the hotel will have three pools, not counting the two private plunge pools.

Around a hidden inner courtyard, the hotel plans a seasonal restaurant, a deli and two bars, one of them on the roof. A dedicated space, the Earth Lab, will host workshops: beeswax wraps, zero-waste candles.

2027 will reshuffle the deck for Milan’s hotel scene. The Principe di Savoia will close on 1 January 2027 for two years of works, while The Duke Milan is preparing 44 rooms inside the central station, with completion targeted for autumn 2027.
