Why do these suites cost so much?
These dizzying rates reflect rarity, size and service far more than just a night’s stay. We are talking about apartments of hundreds, even thousands of square metres, often privatisable, with a dedicated butler, chef and sometimes chauffeur, heightened security and access to reserved areas. They are designed for heads of state, celebrities and the ultra-wealthy, for whom price is not the deciding factor.
And the most expensive hotel in France?
In France, the Plaza Athénée on Avenue Montaigne holds the record with its Haute Couture suite, up to about 30,000 € a night in peak season. The other great Parisian palaces (Ritz, Cheval Blanc, Le Bristol, Le Meurice) offer prestige suites between 20,000 and 30,000 € a night, far from Geneva’s peaks but already in an exceptional bracket.
